004 creating a project
好的。
OK.
Welcome back.
We are right where we left off on our last lecture but now we're going to look at what does it take to set up a new project.
So if we come into this top left icon in our window here we've got a new create a new document or new project I'm going to click on that icon and when I do our new project interface pops up.
So let's give it a project and I'm going to call it Paul's example that's fine.
And for the location it's actually putting this on our my documents it's got its own folder in there for Wonder where projects and I'll go ahead and let it stay there.
The configuration file it's going to create is also going to go into a subfolder and that same path so I'll leave it right there and target platform embedded or Windows.
Well we're not going to be putting this into a embedded device.
We're going to be running this right on Windows.
So let's go ahead and take Windows for that.
And once I select Windows we've got a few different options so we can create an operator workstation local interface and you can see whenever I click on these down below it's telling me how many different tags are available.
300 tags only 150 tags.
And for us 150 tags is probably way more than enough.
And if we decide it's not we can always modify this later on.
So for now let's go ahead and take a windows light interface and hit OK.
Just like that.
We've popped up with a template and ours is going to be for an empty application.
决议。
The resolution.
How much screen space do you need.
Well I would recommend take whatever the maximum is available for your laptop and no more than that because you don't want somebody to have to scroll all over the place and never be able to see the full screen on your laptop.
Then again you don't want to make something any smaller than that really because then you can't work with it.
If you're just creating something simple that only control one or two devices and you wanted to make that maybe you know 640 by 480 and just you know a small little pop up window or something like we're looking at here I could understand that.
But for this course you're going to want some screen real estate.
Better too much than too little.
Rather than being constrained by something like we have been in the past when we were working on an embedded device and we actually had to stay within the size of that screen.
Now stretch your screen resolution a little bit to get that thing up to its maximum.
And let's take full advantage of it here.
So I'm just going to click OK because that is my maximum screen resolution.
And as soon as I do.
That's it.
I have got my application created and I don't have any screens.
I don't have any kind of communications set up.
I really don't have anything but I have got my app.
And in the subsequent lectures of course we're going to work on setting up the communications and everything like that.
Is this another 30 second set up to create a new application.
Yeah pretty much.
There's not a lot required at the beginning which is always nice.
And what is required in the beginning is not something that's carved in stone.
You can always come back and change your mind on those things.
That's it for setting up a project.
I'll see you in the next lecture.
Cheers.
